From Vision to Validation: Supergreen Helps Founder Validate Their Idea and Secure Funding

The Challenge: Aligning a Product Vision with Market Needs
A stealth-mode startup in its conceptual stage faced the critical challenge of verifying the founder’s vision and aligning it with market needs. Before seeking funding, the founder needed to validate the problem, refine the solution, and present a clear and actionable vision to potential investors. Supergreen was engaged to conduct user research, refine the product concept, and define a minimum viable product (MVP) version that delivered customer value with minimal complexity.

The Approach: Research-Driven Product Refinement
Supergreen began by conducting two rounds of user interviews to validate and shape the product concept. The first round involved generative interviews to deeply understand the problem space, explore existing solutions, and gather user ideas on potential directions. These conversations also included presenting a high-level concept, which yielded valuable feedback that helped influence the product’s trajectory.

Equipped with these insights, Supergreen redesigned the user journey map and developed low-fidelity storyboards to visually map out key user interactions. A second round of interviews provided further validation, confirming much of the product direction while offering new perspectives on simplifying the solution.

Streamlining the Product for Simplicity and Impact
Key findings from user research enabled a significant reduction in technical complexity. For example, the solution was reoriented to eliminate authentication for all but admin users, replacing it with a webhook system to engage non-admin users. This approach reduced development effort, lowered barriers to adoption, and focused the product squarely on solving the core user problem.

Through iteration, Supergreen refined the user journey map to emphasize key touchpoints and functionalities while removing unnecessary features. This leaner, more targeted approach not only simplified the MVP but also clarified the path to future development.

Deliverables: A Vision Ready for Funding
The final deliverables included a comprehensive user journey map that detailed the interactions and features across all user types. Higher-fidelity storyboards were also created to visually demonstrate the key workflows and the product’s impact. These materials provided the founder with the clarity and tools needed to pitch the product vision effectively.

The Outcome: Funding Secured and Development Underway
With Supergreen’s research and design support, the founder successfully landed funding to bring their vision to life. The user-centered process and focused MVP helped articulate the value of the product and reduce perceived risks for investors. The startup is now in development, building a solution that aligns closely with market needs while maintaining the simplicity and impact validated during the research process.

Lessons Learned
This project underscored the importance of validating product ideas early in the development process. Generative user research not only refined the solution but also revealed opportunities to simplify and streamline the product for both users and developers. By focusing on solving the core problem and eliminating unnecessary complexity, the startup was able to create a clear and compelling vision that resonated with both users and investors.
